Choosing to be Kind - September Students of the Month

Submitted by stacey.holmes on

Our theme this year is "Choose to make a Difference," and this term we are focusing on "choosing to be kind." Each week during this month our teachers have picked out a student in their class that they see showing kindness here at school.  Make sure to look at all four pictures for the month of September, showing all of our students of the week showing kindness.

Wonderful Readers

Submitted by stacey.holmes on

We have many wonderful readers here at Mapleton Elementary.  In the month of September, our winners for the classes with the most minutes read are Mrs. Hansen's 6th grade class, and Ms. Blaisdell's 3rd grade class.  Congratulations to both classes!  Keep on reading!   Scroll to see pictures of both classes.

*Remember to help your students record their minutes read each week

Walk to School Day

Submitted by stacey.holmes on

Next week on Wednesday, October 5, it is International Walk to School Day.  This day is a global event where children in more than 40 countries walk or bike to school to promote good health and safety.  We invite students to wear blue or a Mapleton school shirt that day and encourage as many as possible to walk to school.  We will be having our own "walk the school" that morning for students who ride the bus and the PTA will be providing snacks.

5th Graders Visited Springville Power Plant

Submitted by stacey.holmes on

Fifth grade learned about current and static electricity. How to be safe using insulators and conductors. They witnessed what would happen to them if they were unsafe. Learned about where electricity is generated and the big engines that produce electricity. They had some hands on experiments and we're given a treat at the end. Thanks to Springville Power and all those involved in educating our youth.
