Mountain Man Visits 4th Grade
4th grade enjoyed a visit from real-life mountain man, Scott Sorensen. We learned about famous mountain men, furs they trapped, and how those furs were used.

5th and 6th graders in the after school TEC club were able to show their robotic programming skills during today's competition. Students had to design and program their robot to trace a curved line, turn around at the end and return to home spot. The first place winners this time were Andrew Green and Lincoln Chase. What a great partnership with BYU Engineering Education dept.
Our school choir has been meeting for several months before school to prepare for their Christmas program. They sang both traditional and modern songs full of joy and sweet messages. Several students were spotlighted with solos or percussion parts. It was a wonderful evening thanks to the time and talents of many.
On December 1st, our Kindergarten students kicked off the season with a wonderfully festive program. There was dancing, singing, rhythm, scarves, and more. The sheer delight in their faces brought Christmas to many hearts.
Thank you so much for the many donations brought in during our gratitude week. We had over 1800 items donated during our 5 day campaign. The student council worked hard to sort and organize the items. Because of the generosity of Mapleton School families, many lives will be blessed this holiday season. We are grateful to you for your continued support of this service project each holiday season!
Mapleton School students and staff are all awesome! A student council member had an idea to create a large "I AM" mural highlighting the talents of everyone in our school. Thanks to the student council for organizing this and helping to put up the more than 700 index cards. Next time you are in the school, stop by the wall outside of the lunchroom and see this amazing project!
We had a children's author, Gary Hogg, come to our school and speak to the students.
In a wintery wonderland of snow, our first graders sang songs to welcome in the season at the Mapleton Tree Lighting Ceremony. They delighted the crowd with their poems, songs and actions. They even sang "Here Comes Santa Claus" as Santa himself arrived on a decorated fire truck.
Our Principal, Mrs. Peery, had an opportunity to read with each of the grade levels before our Thanksgiving Break.
This week is our GRATITUDE week sponsored by our student council. We are asking for donations that could help other children and families in need this Christmas and anything donated is greatly appreciated.
