Mapleton Third Grade Students Bring Mapleton History to Life

Mapleton Third Grade Students bring Mapleton History to Life.    Storyteller, Lora Schmidt, is working with the third grade students to create plays from a book compiled by Eric Brinkerhoff: "Mapleton Folks Tales".  This art project is made possible by a grant from the Utah Division of Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.  They will perform the plays Friday Oct. 18 at 2:30 in the school auditorium.

Hiking Field Trip to Whiting Campground

On October 1the second and sixth grade classes at Mapleton Elementary went on a hiking field trip to the Whiting Campground.  The hike was a seven mile round trip where they looked for signs of fall.  When they reached the campground they had the opportunity to do art and science activities.  Everyone had a wonderful time!

Coat and Blanket Give Away

Tabitha’s Way will be hosting a coat and blanket give away on October 26th from 9 am to Noon at the Spanish Fork Veterans Memorial Hall. Anyone in need of a coat or blanket is welcome to come and pick one up. Please spread the word to any one you know that may be in need of one.

3rd Grade Discover Mapleton Field Trip

Mapleton third grade students went on a Discover Mapleton field trip October 1.  The students visited four sites, Mapleton Heritage Museum, Conversation with a DUP speaker, the Hollow, and the trail out of Whiting campground, with their field journals to gather information for their  green mapping art project.  They will be working with storyteller Lora Schmidt to bring Mapleton history to life through drama. The art project has been made possible through a grant from the Utah Division of Arts and Museums and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Parenting With Love and Logic

Parenting With Love & Logic/Parenting Education Program

The Parenting With Love & Logic course is designed to help parents practice effective parenting without the power struggles.  Parenting With Love & Logic teaches parents and children to accept natural consequences and reach a win/win agreement.  Course Length:  4 weeks.  Please pre-register with a secretary listed on the schedule to ensure placement.  This class is FREE but there is an optional class manual that can be purchased for $10.00.

5th Grade Scientists!

5th Grade Scientists! The Discovery Gateway: Reaction Time Program came to our school and taught the kids about chemical and physical reactions.  They had some great fun experiments shown to them and then they were able to experiment on their own in groups.  So much fun and thanks to Laura England from Discovery Gateway.

Storytelling Festival

Third grade field trip to Timpanogos Storytelling Festival August 29.  Third grade students heard stories from Reggie and Kim Harris about freedom and from Donald Davis about his family going to the carnival. They ate lunch at Canyon Glen Park before returning to school.

"One Hundred Miler Club"

Students at Mapleton Elementary have been striving  to meet the requirements for the "One Hundred Miler Club" They had to run or walk 100 miles here at school.  We congratulate those who made it !
