Arbor Day

Submitted by stacey.holmes on

The sun came out to celebrate Arbor Day in Mapleton City.  The Mapleton Elementary 3rd grade drew posters with the theme Trees Are Terrific for our health and happiness.  The school winner is Abrielle Ball in Mrs. Naylor's class. Orpha Dee Johnson, the oldest continuous resident of Mapleton, Hal Black , and Mr. Haines a Native American Flute maker told the students the terrific qualities of trees.  The students helped plant a beauiful flowering cherry tree.  The tree committee presented Abrielle, Mrs. Day and Mrs. Johnson a tree necklace.
