"Outstanding Service Award"

Submitted by stacey.holmes on

Laurie has been the librarian here at Mapleton Elementary School for the past 7 years.  She joined our staff and has given her time and effort faithfully. Laurie is the librarian of not one but two libraries. She has added her special touch to every wall and bookcase in our school.

She has involved student helpers, arrives early and stays late to help students.  Laurie takes requests for books from parents, teachers as well as students. Many parents will tell you how she has taken a special interest in helping their student to find appropriate and challenging materials for reading.

Laurie is in charge of our book fares, purchasing special books and materials, taking teacher's wish lists  for parents to give a book to their child's teacher as well as giving teachers free books from her funds.

Mrs. Mittanck can be seen sharing books with students each day through hands on experiences such as popping pop corn, acting out the parts or going outside to do an activity which brings books to life for children.

Laurie gives her heart and soul to her job and we want her to know that she is appreciated and loved by all those she has willingly served!  We are grateful to her and want to  honor  her with  this  oustanding service award.
