The 5th grade Wax Museum is a fun tradition here at Mapleton Elementary. This year's Wax Museum was held November 20th with two performances - one during the day for the teachers & students and the other in the evening for family members and friends. The students choose a famous deceased American to research and dress up as that person. They give a speech summarizing the person's life and accomplishments. In preparation for the Wax Museum, students research their famous American for many weeks and write a research paper on him or her. They then write their own 30 second speech and come up with a costume. Other students also chose to make a poster about their person.
