Joslyn Wheeler entered the Hobble Creek science fair and is progressing onto the Central Utah Science Fair from her participation in the district fair. Great Job joslyn!
Our 2nd grade classes had a dental presentation Marionette puppet show by the Dental Association.
We had the opportunity for the BYU Young Company to come to our school to perform the Shakespeare play "Twelfth Night". All of our 2nd through 6th grade classes attended the play.
We will be spotlighting a Student of the Week from each classroom. These students receive a certificate and prize from Mrs. Peery with the chance to be drawn out at the end of each month for a special activity with the Principal. The focus for the month of February is being "Responsible". The students are selected by their teachers as they see their students show responsibility. Here are the Students of the Week for February 26.
Mrs. Ray is the music teacher at Mapleton Elementary. She enjoys music, singing, country dance, going on walks, and hiking with her family. Her favorite children's book is "Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls. She has been married for 20 years and has three daughters and two sons. Her favorite vacation was to Hawaii for an anniversary and she would love to take her whole family to Hawaii. She enjoys working at the school because she works with great kids from her community, including her Son. She also enjoys working with the faculty.
Mr. Groneman is a 5th grade teacher at Mapleton Elementary. He enjoys hunting, camping, golfing, going to Utah football games, and reading. His favorite children’s book is “Call it Courage” by Armstrong Sperry. He has been married to his wife for 18 years and they have four children. His favorite vacation was a golf trip to St. George, and he would love to go on a cruise. He loves working at the school because of the community and the kids.
Today in science Mrs. Christensen's 4th grade class made three types of clouds out of shaving cream. They even cleaned their desks in the process of learning about clouds.
The fourth grade classes had their Hogwarts sorting ceremony. Each student is sorted into a Hogwarts house as they begin this new learning adventure each year.
