Spelling bee finalists and winners
Last week each 3rd - 6th grade class held a preliminary spelling bee and the finalists were then able to compete in the schoolwide spelling bee on Friday. The students showed great courage and resilience as they competed but they also showed tremendous sportsmanship as they congratulated their peers. So very proud of our Mountaineers! The winners for the 3rd/4th grade spelling bee were 3rd place Luke Hansen, 2nd place Eden Parrotti, and 1st place Maeser Gillette. For the 5th/6th grade spelling bee it was 3rd place Zach Friden, 2nd place Maren Nielson and 1st place Ben Robinson.

Sharing kindness during Valentine's week
This week several classes were involved in writing kind notes and sharing kindness throughout the school. One third grade class secretly decorated the doors of the office staff, custodians, and technicians with hearts and messages of gratitude. It made our week! Thanks for being such kind and amazing students!
Mountain Man Days!!
4th Grade had a visit from Mr. Dunn. He came and taught them all about who and what Mountain Men did. He came dressed the part, and even let them hold some of the furs he had.
January Students of the Month
We celebrated our awesome Students of the Month for January last week. Students were each presented with a Mapleton Elementary water bottle filled with treats, as well as a special pin for their coats or backpacks. We sure appreciate the example they are of kindness, resilience, and respect. Thanks Mountaineers!
