Did you know?

September is National Attendance Awareness Month. Did you know that if a student misses one day of school every 2 weeks, that is 10% of learning time missed, or almost 4 weeks of school in a year?  "Chronic Absence" is defined as missing 10% or more of school for any reason -- excused, unexcused, etc. It is an indication that a student is academically at risk due to missing too much school starting in Kindergarten. (Utah State Office of Education).

Storytelling Assembly :   Clare Murphy, a professional storyteller from Ireland,  came to Mapleton Elementary in conjunction with the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival.  She told stories in two sessions, k-3 and 4-6.   Her stories were interactive.  Students were singing, responding and helping tell the stories.  Clare Murphy had the attention of the students making them laugh and encouraging them to tell their own stories.
