Submitted by stacey.holmes on

This year at Mapleton Elementary we will be spotlighting a Student of the Week from each classroom. These students receive a certificate and prize from Mrs. Peery with the chance to be drawn out at the end of each month for "Pizza with the Principal." The focus for the month of February is "Random Acts of Kindness".  The students are selected by their teachers as they do acts of kindness for others at our school.  Here are the Students of the Week for February 23-27.

White Ribbon Week Assembly

Submitted by julie.peery on

This week is our White Ribbon Week to help students focus on being internet and media safe. On Monday we had an assembly from NetSmartz at which the speaker connected the internet to fire: it can be a helpful and very good thing, but if misused, can be a dangerous and bad thing. Students are learning this week with various activities how to be wise when using the internet.

January 30th the students at Mapleton Elementary completed over 150 polar fleece blankets for Primary Children’s Medical Center.  However, true to tradition, Mr. Groneman and Mrs. Sandberg, along with their classes, had the opportunity to tie two additional quilts from their “favorite” universities.  In the end, their “true” colors showed!!  Thank you Mr. Groneman and Mrs.

Kindergarten "100 Day" Celebration

Submitted by stacey.holmes on

The Kindergarten classes at Mapleton Elementary celebrated the 100th day of school.  The teachers and many of the students dressed up as a 100 year old (look at the many fun pictures).  It was a very fun day with many learning activities provided for the students.
