This year at Mapleton Elementary we will be spotlighting a Student of the Week from each classroom. These students receive a certificate and prize from Mrs. Peery with the chance to be drawn out at the end of each month for "Pizza with the Principal." The focus for the month of April is "Responsibility".  The students are selected by their teachers as they show responsibility at school.  Here are the Students of the Week for   May 1.

Arbor Day

We would like to congratulate our winner Andrew Hammer for "Trees are terrific from every angle".  The tree committee from Mapleton City came to share the benefits of trees.  The students saw a huge section of tree from one of the downed trees in the park.  They heard music on a hand carved wooden flute made by a Mapleton artisan, and heard a story and poem from Orpha Dee Johnson who was born in Mapleton and has lived in the city for 90 years.  The students learned how to plant a tree and helped put the soil on the tree that was planted.
