Thanks to Mapleton Parks and Recreation for the nice Arbor Day Celebration.  Honored Guest Orpha Dee Johnson, who has worked with promoting Mapleton as "  A Tree City U.S.A., was there to honor the winners of the "Trees are Terrific" Poster Contest. She presented them with  Certificates for their work. We appreciate the work of Carol Day, who was unable to attend.  Each year she sees that students participate in this contest.      Hal Black then gave a wonderful demonstration with students on different ways and products made of wood. Then our Parks and recreation people demonstrated how a tree is planted and let the 1st and 3rd grade students help shovel in the dirt.

Mapleton Elementary students and teachers appreciate the opportunity to participate and learn new things from this program each year. The following are pictures from the celebration!   Pictured from left to right are the winners Honorable Mention : Mattea Allan,  Abrielle Ball, Orpha Dee Johnson, Summer Sanders Maelee Crowshaw and Abbigail Pollock.
