Third Grade Tulips

Submitted by julie.peery on

Each third grade student was able to plant his or her very own tulip bulb at our new tulip test garden located in the front of our school.  We are excited to be a school participating in the Tulips Journey North Program.  We are looking forward to tracking the progress of our tulips in our role as citizen scientists and we are especially excited to see our tulips bloom in the spring!

Steve and Lisa James Assembly

Submitted by julie.peery on

Students and teachers alike were entertained today by Steve and Lisa James. Their message of being kind and having the power to make a difference came through words and music. Students were even singing along with the fun renditions of Christmas music Steve shared with us. Great way to kick off the season!

Mapleton Elementary Choir Program

We kicked off the holiday season with an assembly and evening performance by our school choir. They sang fall and winter songs, played orff and percussion instruments and even added some character parts into their performance. It was a lovely evening. We so appreciate the talents of our students, our director, Karen Thueson, and our accompianist, Jeanette Nielson.

Ancient Egypt in 6th grade

6th graders had an amazing day learning more about ancient Egyptian culture and architecture. First, they took part in learning how to build a sturdy, tall pyramid. Next, they learned the secrets of mummification while performing several of the steps on their stuffed animals!

Thank you Mapleton Senior Citizens

Recently, Mapleton Senior Citizens made a donation to each of the three elementary schools in the Mapleton area. We were honored to receive this donation at their October luncheon at the Mapleton City Center. This donation will go towards helping individual students who are in need. We are so appreciative of their kindness and for thinking of children.
