Spelling Bee

Congratulations to each of our spelling bee participants and winners. Each class in 3rd- 6th grade had their own preliminary spelling bee and the top three then went on to compete at the school level. They each did a great job and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in both 3rd/4th and 5th/6th are picture below along with the school participants. Way to go students!

Mental Health Awareness Night

Nebo School District will be hosting a series of Parent Awareness Nights. The topics of discussion will include mental health and safety planning with youth. Several community service providers will be present to answer question and help individuals to access services. See the event flyer for more information.

 

5th grade NOVA graduation

On January 17th, our 5th grade students graduated from the NOVA program. This 12 week course taught by Officer Miller from the Mapleton Police Department focused on seeking positive opportunities, instilling values, and accepting accountability for choices. We appreciate Officer Miller and the lifelong lessons that he taught. 

PTA Reflections winner

Kennadee Gillette, a sixth grader at Mapleton Elementary, won an excellence award at region in 3D Art for Reflections and her project is moving on to state to be judged. Congratulations Kennadee!

Our planning time technician position for music/drama is open and we are hiring. If you or someone you know is interested, please have them visit www.nebo.edu/jobs and click on Mapleton Elementary. The position is for Monday through Thursday in the afternoons. 

Mapleton/HobbleCreek Orchestras perform

Students at Mapleton and HobbleCreek who participate in the orchestra program joined forces for a holiday concert last night. There were group numbers, duets and solos. They have practiced 2-3 times a week before school for three months now and have learned so much already. We appreciate the talented teacher, Jessica Knight. 

6th grade STEM

Our 6th graders have been doing hands-on STEM activities as part of planning time working with Mrs. Kox and Mrs. Roberts (in conjunction with BYU college of engineering students). Here they are exploring air waves and movement using balloon rockets.
