Each year Mapleton Elementary School has a "Day of Caring"  this started with Sheri Jensen's Second Grade Class and the Nemelka Family of Mapleton, in memory of Anna Nemelka. Each year we celebrate Anna's life,  by donating hundreds of fleece blankets to Primary Children's Medical Center.  Students and parents donate hundreds of yards of fleece which are then taken and cut into blankets for tying. All classes participate with great enthusiasm. The quilts are delivered to each class in the school then tied and returned to Mrs. Sheri Jensen's class by the end of the day.  As you can see from the pictures posted here there are a large pile of blankets.  The Nemelka family personally delivers them each year to the hospital around the time of their daughter Anna's birthday.  This is a wonderful activity which includes people from our school and community giving  their money, time and talents. Thus it is named "A Day of Caring". On this day if you enter the school you will feel an amazing amount of love, joy and excitement for the huge task which is accomplished by all.Thank you to everyone for being so very generous!Pictured here are:  Mrs. Snyder's First Grade Class, Mrs. D'Haenen's Kindergarten Class, Mrs. Christensen's Class, Mrs. Jensen's Second Grade Class, and the Nemelka Family.
