Rotary Club Donates Dictionaries to the 3rd Grade

The chief fire fighter and fire fighter Bills visited Mapleton Elementary to remind students to keep their home smoke alarms in working order and what to do at home if a fire starts ; feel the door with the back of your hand near a door before opening it, throw stuff out of your window so that the fire fighters can find you. They also passed out candy on a stick that says"in case of fire hurry outside and a fire safety fun book.
Our new Student Council that was chosen recently have an opportunity to attend a Student Council Leadership Conference on Friday, October 10th at BYU.

This year at Mapleton Elementary we will be spotlighting a Student of the Week from each classroom. These students receive a certificate and prize from Mrs. Peery with the chance to be drawn out at the end of each month for "Pizza with the Principal." The focus for the month of October is "respect." The students are selected based upon the respect they show to their teachers, peers and faculty at the school. Here are the Students of the Week.
On October 7th, the Living Planet Aquarium presented to each of the fourth grade classes. Students learned all about the water cycle through hands-on experience with an interactive diagram, singing and dancing to a water cycle song, and by participating in a condensation experiment. Students also had the privilege of seeing a tiger salamander, a garter snake, a red-spotted toad, and a king snake. Students learned about specific animal adaptations of the reptiles and amphibians they saw and the parts of the water cycle the animals like best. All fourth graders h
"Too Smart To Start"
Red Ribbon Week is underway at Mapleton Elementary thanks to our wonderful PTA. Monday we had a wonderful assembly with the Mapleton police officers to kick off the week. They taught the students about safety and community awareness. They brought two police dogs to show how they train the dogs to find drugs.

Wednesday October 1st was our walk a thon awards assembly. Although the weather was a bit chilly, that didnt stop the students from cheering on their teachers as they battled in their hamster balls. Most the teachers got to experience "the hamster ball" and it was great fun to watch! The PTA announced winners for the speedster club, most pledges and most laps including those who won the raffle prizes, "no homework" passes, and an ice cream party with Principal Peery.
